Welcome! I'm a working mom raising identical twin boys, juggling a full-time career, and attempting to maintain some semblance of order in a house where two five-year-olds have very definite opinions about how things should be done.

Some days go surprisingly well. Other days, I've heard "Mommom!" 47 times before breakfast, someone can't find their shoes (which are exactly where they left them), and I'm wondering why I bothered making a plan in the first place.

I love my boys more than anything, but they certainly keep life interesting.

I started Suburban Twin Mom because I've spent the last few years collecting stories about the ridiculous things my kids say and do. At some point, I realized other parents might get a laugh out of them too. And since I also love cooking, camping, and finding creative ways to entertain the boys, I figured I'd share those things along the way.

So, What Will You Find Here?

Life with Twins: Funny conversations, family adventures, and the occasional parenting disaster. Like the time one of my boys informed me that he didn't have a truck ride, then helpfully instructed me to say, "Here is a truck ride." I couldn't make this stuff up.

From the STM Kitchen: Recipes we actually eat at home, from comfort-food dinners to easy weeknight meals. I love to cook, but I'm also a big fan of shortcuts. If I can make a great dinner without using every pan in the kitchen, I'm all for it.

Coloring Books & Other Fun Stuff: I've started turning some of the absurdities of parenting into coloring books and activities. Because apparently being asked "Where are your shoes?" seventeen times wasn't enough. I needed to turn it into a creative project.

Family Adventures: We love camping and getting out of the house. I'll share some of our adventures, favorite finds, and probably a few things that didn't go quite according to plan.

A Little About Me

I have a doctorate and have spent my career in education. You'd think that would give me some sort of advantage when negotiating with five-year-olds.

It doesn't.

My house gets messy, sometimes dinner is a hit, and sometimes I'm just glad everyone ate something. I don't have all the answers, and I'm certainly not going to pretend I do.

But I have some pretty good recipes, a collection of funny stories, and a sense of humor that's gotten me through more than a few challenging days.

So take a look around. Try a recipe, check out the coloring books, or just enjoy the stories.

And if you've ever asked your child, "Why are you wet?" and immediately regretted asking, I suspect we'll get along just fine.

Same Chaos. Double the Love.
